Chico, California is known for it's almond orchards. Typically between February and March the almond tree buds burst into beautiful white and pink blossoms in preparation for almond pollination. During that time if you are lucky enough to take a walk in the orchard, you will feel the excitement of the bees buzzing, and notice the fragrance of the blossoms calling out to the bees that they "are ready"! This is called the almond burst, or the stamen burst. It is a magical time in nature and lovely to behold.
Here is our latest painting, an attempt to capture the excitement and beauty of this event. We are happy to offer this design as a greeting card or an art print. Come have a look at our Etsy site or click on the STORE tab above. The cards will be going into Made in Chico this week.
