This is the most painful thing I have ever done. I woke up in the hospital after total knee replacement surgery with a horrible burning 🔥 pain that started at the base of my foot and shin, wrapping around under my knee and up the side of my leg. No amount of pain meds would touch it. Sleep was my only relief.
I was given vague explanations that included a nerve bundle having been disturbed during knee surgery. Something that rarely happens, and I was one of the rare ones. The day after I returned home a physical therapist evaluated my condition as drop foot.
Pain and confusion, prayer, and smiling my way through the ensuing days of round the clock pain meds, visits to the surgeon, in-home physical therapy and helpful visits from Hub’s family has brought us to 2 1/2 weeks post op.
I may or may not regain the use of my foot again. Time and a lot of hard work will tell us more. Outside physical therapy and a new appointment with a neurosurgeon starts tomorrow.
I have not painted a single stroke. I want to, but am not able to do it yet. I am making good improvement from wound healing, swelling and walking with a walker. I am not sure I can start to print and ship quite yet. I will keep you posted. In the mean time I pop on Instagram very briefly from time to time, encouraging new artists and chatting with friends.
Hub and I are totally resting in the arms of the Lord as we try to catch up on our sleep, encourage one another and progress a little more every day. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!
