I WAS A MICHIGANDER

Writer's picture: Mary BrazMary Braz

...and my family was certainly snowed in many times when I was a child in school. We couldnt go to school, but we did burrow our way to our friends' houses up and down the street to get together and play in the snow.

As I clear the way for January, 2025, I wonder what to put on my Etsy shop and in the stores. I'm remembering the beautiful violets that grew wild in the woods behind our house and the Lily of the valley flowers my mother planted along the side of the house. Since violets are for February, and the Lilies are for May, they are what I think of as winter and spring.

Here in Chico, California, the first blooms we will see once the rains stop are almond blossoms and daffodils. The almond blossoms burst open to attract the bees for pollination. The delicate blossoms are fragrant and seductive to the bees, as are the daffodils, who are also a classic symbol of spring with their cheerful bright colors.

This is an original painting I have on my own wall this time of year. Daffodils make me happy! :)

And here are some additional prints I'm adding to my inventory as I rearrange. These can be found in a new section, fruit.
