ABOUT THE HERBS SECTION

Updated: Jun 30

There has been disscussion lately about the stories behind many of my paintings, and the inspiration behind each one. The herbals above have a lovely story and I can't believe I haven't written about them before now.

Back in October, 2021, I was contacted by a counselor from Weave, Inc. They are an amazing organization in Sacramento whose mission is to promote safe and healthy relationships and support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and sex trafficking. One of Weave's counselors learned about my work while shopping at 'Made In Chico' where I am fortunate to stock my greeting cards.

The members at Weave were redecorating and wanted a framed painting on each door of their counseling rooms. They asked for wildflowers or herbs that were native to California. They have a larkspur room, for example and a poppy room; and they wanted matching prints on their respective doors. So, the request was for poppies, lupine, larkspur, asters, lavendar, yarrow and sage. 3 of these I did not have and so painted fresh new pieces. Lavender, sage and yarrow.

I was honored to be chosen for this commission. You can imagine! So now, after all this time, I'm promoting these herbal prints in their own special section in my Etsy shop.
